The Orient

Oil/Acrylic on Canvas

I found my flash drives, and so will now be able to upload the following 16 paintings.  This one was completed while I attended Reed College.  It was completed in 2008.

The woman to the right was based off an Asian model, the clouds mimic the ones in traditional asian paintings/drawings.  The goldfish was first domesticated in China.  The glass dome is a wind chime with a slip of paper dangling from it.  It is thought to bring good luck.  The large black paint strokes represent the ones used in Chinese brush paintings.

I took a Chinese Art History class at Reed, and it was very influential.  My professor was very inspiring.  It was really just luck that I decided to take it and loved it.
